A former NBA All Star center who wears the same color pants, shoes, shorts, sneakers and overalls as he did in the 1990s and early 2000s is asking “why is it still happening?” on Instagram.
Hakeem Oliver, a former All-NBA guard, has posted a photo of himself on a flight from Los Angeles to New York.
The photo, titled “I can no longer help but question why is he still wearing the exact same clothes as he was in the 90s,” reads, “I was raised to be a hindu.
It is not a religion, but the most basic of our beliefs.”
In the caption, Oliver says the “diversity” he’s seen in basketball was “so much more than just the color of his pants, the size of his shoes, or the way his hair is styled.”
Oliver, a New Jersey native, says he started wearing a different color shirt, a darker color suit and lighter color sneakers to “give me something different.”
The NBA All Stars will wear a new color for the 2016-17 season, which will be unveiled at a future date.
